A Very Cool Site. Also, Disney.

A couple highlights from my Shared Items...

(via Kottke) This site is fascinating. You can go to any area in the US and see how it has developed over the past century or so. Highlights for me include Philadelphia, Amarillo, Boynton Beach, Columbus, OH and Boston.

.....

The other day I saw the Disney logo and it made me a little sad. When I was a kid I used to watch the Disney Sunday Movie, and it made my nights. Michael Eisner would introduce whatever movie was on that night, say something clever, and a guy wearing a Mickey costume would put his hand to his mouth like Eisner just said something provocative. Since then Disney has sunk to new lows as their first priority clearly has been making money off of kids, regardless of the quality of their product. They do this by making horribly awful sequels to great classics. What kid wouldn't want to see Aladdin VII: Jafar vs. The Cute Arabic Monkey? And then I came across this article. I know Steve Jobs gets a lot of flack for just about everything he does (like most public figures), but I applaud him on his zeal for Disney integrity. The last great Disney animated feature in my opinion was The Lion King (not counting the Pixar movies). I'd love to see something of that caliber again.
